Iconic Belfast Buildings with Lighting from Lightsource

We take a tour around some of Belfast's most popular public buildings and remember some of the project highlights of recent years. Click each of the images to view the full portfolio piece.
Grand Opera House
Lightsource were tasked with sourcing the lighting that the Interior Design Team at Sundara Design specified for the complete renovation of Belfast's Grand Opera House. All of the Architectural and Decorative Lighting in the circulation areas has been supplied by Lightsource.
The key factor in the lighting scheme was to ensure that all light fittings were controllable. Lightsource took this into account and created a plan in which all light fittings would either be brought in from our partners with Casambi controllable modules on board or, create lighting that meets specifications using our bespoke lighting services. Grand Central Hotel
The £53million project, with 23 floors and 300 luxuriously designed bedrooms, marks an exciting period in Belfast’s hotel scene development. With its double-height space on the ground floor and ‘its international outlook, and cosmopolitan feel’, no expense has been spared on the hotel’s sumptuous interior design. When asked, our very own Anthony Brown said, “With a large proportion of the lighting being bespoke to the hotel, it really tested our European manufacturers and, I can say, that they have successfully delivered. Enjoy a 5-star experience in Belfast's biggest hotel!
Harp Bar
The Harp Bar, incorporating the Dunville and Swinging Diddy Lounges is decorated in plush red velvet fabrics and adorned with antique furnishings resonant with Victorian Belfast. Walls and cabinets feature rare memorabilia inspired by the building's origins as a bonded warehouse. If you've ever had a lively and memorable night in Belfast, the chances are, you visited the Harp Bar!
AIB Bank
Lightsource are delighted to have collaborated with the design and instal team on the iconic AIB Head Quarters on the corner of Ann Street in Belfast.
Lightsource provided a supporting role in the supply and consultation of most fittings throughout the building. Much consideration was given to both the overall aesthetic of the lighting and the overall performance. Factors such as beam angle, colour temperature and glare rating were of paramount importance to ensure the desired finish and lighting levels were achieved.
Europa Hotel
Lightsource were tasked with creating a special atmosphere in the newly refurbished Europa Hotel. In the bedrooms, downlights from Flua ensured that glare was kept to a minimum with their low glare baffle, helping to create a homogenous and comfortable level of light. They proved to be a high quality and cost-effective solution. Warm, recessed LED strip has been used in the bathrooms to add to the luxurious feel. In the reception area, large bespoke lights illuminate the main bar area with ornate chandeliers hanging in the lobby.
PWC Merchant Square

Belfast City Airport
As you pass through the security area in Belfast City Airport, it is hard to miss the lighting designed and supplied by Lightsource. Strict lighting levels were adhered to while incorporating an ultra-modern aesthetic into the scheme.

The offices above were renovated to a high standard around 5 years ago and Lightsource had the pleasure of providing all high quality, low-glare light fittings.
